Charlotte Dial-A-Ride was established in 2005 to provide safe, reliable and courteous transportation for Charlotte County residents facing difficulty accessing transportation for their needs and well-being. Using volunteer drivers, the organization has provided rides for over 93,000 people since then. In 2021, the organization initiated a fund-raising campaign to help purchase a wheelchair accessible vehicle. The JT Clark Family Foundation offered to match-funding if this included funds to establish a designated endowment fund. Thanks to amazing community support and the JT Clark Family Foundation this was achieved, and will now provide ongoing support for Dial-A-Ride operations, including maintenance of the wheelchair van.
