When Kaye passed away in 2022, her family chose to honour her many years, and passion for, building literacy with young students by establishing this fund. Kaye taught for 34 years, nearly all at the Grade 1 level. She was a natural educator with an easy manner and rapport with younger children and found great gratification in a child’s mastery of reading skills. This fund is intended to support literacy enhancement initiatives at the public elementary school level with precedence given to the summer reading enhancement program conducted by the Anglophone South School District within Charlotte County.
