LAFE LOCKE ASPIRING WRITERS SCHOLARSHIP FUND (2004)

Lafe and Gwen Locke moved to St. Andrews in 1988. Lafe’s columns and award-winning cartoons in the St. Croix Courier had an avid following, and he continued to write for other Maine and Maritime publications. Lafe’s work has appeared in more than 80 publications, dozens of books, several anthologies, and numerous advertising campaigns. He wrote and illustrated eight books, most recently “The Boy Who Wasn’t Himself”, published on the 400th anniversary of Champlain’s arrival in New Brunswick. In Lafe’s honour and memory, DreamCatcher Books and Publishing established the Lafe Locke Aspiring Writers’ Scholarship Fund to encourage aspiring writers from the Sir James Dunn Academy.
